There's nothing like an old favourite to activate the easel and Charcoal pencils are one such old favourite of mine. The compressed nature of this charcoal makes for a generous selection of mark making from which to produce. Crisp rich blacks that soften to a pale, feathery grey can be used cleanly then highly texturally to suggest form, something I love.

Each art media comes with it's own feeling, as does the subject matter and composition of an artwork. Any one of these will take us toward what we ultimately feel aligned to needing from our environments.
