2023 became a year of vigorous activity in each aspect of the four YSh Studio business areas which led to a lot of growth. Sharing a reflection of some of it with you here, let's glimpse together at what is unfolding for 2024.

Daily sketching and photography practices continued throughout the year along with weekly arts therapy and digital arts practice and therapy reading.

The illustration and pattern design work undertaken resulted in having fabric samples made of my work, then sharing my first surface pattern design portfolio, collection of 3 digital fine prints and my first collaborative, POD, pattern design calendar for sale.

Monthly studio time in 2023 led to submitting my 13th portrait entry to the Archibald Prize, and though unsuccessful happened as I continued working on my new collection of painted works for exhibition, and started a brand new range of fine art prints, between working on (two) mural designs.

Our part-time country life meant providing monthly artist & farmers markets face painting that was so joyful, just part of the fun of having bought, renovated, established and started a joint, country Victoria Airbnb venture.

In the arts therapy work I do, 2023 marked 20 years of Specialist Palliative Care Arts Psychotherapist employment, working in multidisciplinary community palliative and bereavement care, and privately 13 years of providing Arts Therapy Supervision.

As I write today, I’m wondering about your year, the events, the challenges, the highlights and those spots have happened that give you a place to move from for the next year. The rest I’m enjoying today has me writing to you from a creative space purposefully made, off the master bedroom we call the 'Snug’ just part of the country miners cottage ‘Leila' at Malmsbury in Victoria, that we let to visitors. With the time I’m taking being here, I’ll close these final December days in 2023 by taking a moment to paint some of the blooms from my garden work here. If you like the sound of live, hand tended blooms being captured and made into new artworks, or just need new work for your home or work spaces, you can send me an email for your own 'new year self - new art' conversations.

May your end of year be kind, and we’ll catch up here next month.

Bless,
