Thank you to patrons who took up the option for commission work in October/November. These and the new collection work have come along nicely.
As a painter engaged in botanical and portrait themes, each season brings a flurry of influence caused by weather and none are more influential on me than the warmer months. That said, whilst it usually seems so easy to be at the easel when the activity of the natural world around me in the garden is hummingly alive with it's growth, it's had a little change happening here. You see we've a new, little 10 month old, member to our family.
Boarder Collie, ex-farm pup 'Luna' didn't quite make the grade as a working dog so we've brought her back to the Peninsula, from my own birth-town of Corryong in Victoria's High Country, to live her life with us. Instantly Luna became my daughter's best friend and soon after arriving home, became the newest art-fan and muse in the studio. We just adore our new pup.
With love in the air, October and November were full. Studio became slightly quieter with seasonal increases in public art activities - plenty of lovely face painting. December looks as though it will start nicely with commencement of a delightful new commission and 2025's portrait projects prep.
Increased drawing time in November led to more mono-printmaking and an exploration of a new 'brights' palette that influenced my daily surface pattern work - see those in the @yshstudio_YveY instagram feed and some in my yshstudio-YveY Spoonflower shop.
As a fine artist, the love I have for all things people, botanical, and our story, grows when I am in my studio. In the studio life's threads, those little mundane moments that at are happening in between the fine art making, arts therapy/psychotherapy work, patterns, face painting and even my country Victoria airbnb hosting of people, expose a truth; that I have all that I need to create. I love that this is my natural-born reasoning to create. It's my way of honouring every connection I engage in as a living breathing creature sharing this earth.
As I type and glance at the blooms outside my window, I wonder about what the coming festive season and indeed here, the Summer in Australia may bring. Please, let me know in an email if you have dreams to commission a brand new art work of your own to live with or are looking for some new furnishings or wearable patterns to inspire you in life.
So I send out 'cheers'. .. here's to our contemplative spaces, those spaces we can go to re-group, find our centre and truly respond to life, authentically.
Sending this post to you today with enough love in it to help us all notice just how much we've moved in and through this year, to somehow let all of that come to it's natural rest.
With warmth,
