There are so many things that pull us from one moment to the next, but how do you discern where your attention goes?
When making an art work, the choices facing the maker lead to either doing or being, a process of which I adore. When it’s working, my sense of deep connection gets me started and making from where I stand. For example, today, it’s been a rather ‘fulfillingly‘ busy day in my clinical arts therapy role at hospice today. So I’ve painted the leaves on my desk simply to connect. As I did so, some challenges still hovering around from the day before, co-mingled in my aesthetic attempts
and let me see them in a pictorial way. The process brought me to thinking of all the brilliant souls and people I’ve been fortunate to meet, and out of them, where the spot light sits as I write. There are two paintings emerging from the time taken just to be, so together let’s see where that story goes next month….
