With a great flurry of activity across November and December, the good Studio work preparations made as 2024 drew to a close are today paying off with daily painting happening with this week's schools-return. The image shared here glimpses the drawing prep for a lovely current commission happening in the Studio - more to share on that later.
Being selected for the work after having been referred by a patron who had commissioned me for a their last artwork purchase, the year before, was and is such an honour. The chain of events in how each commission work comes about, uniqely connects me to the task, making each painting personal. I enjoy collaborating as I take care to collect the needed details of the imagined work. Being able to help others articulate and get to an art work they want, one made to gift to another or to live with themselves, is a large part of my working Studio practice.
The Commission works I undertake match other aspects I maintain in my professional practices. For instance this Summer these have included warm sketchbook drawing and painting, daily surface pattern designing, (online, Spoonflower Shop) 'YSH Studio YveY' care, a good body of photography work, capturing the Season in my two lovely gardens.
A two and a half week break in my online Arts Therapy Supervision allowed a good reset and fine arts Studio immersion after unexpected heavy December work, responiding to NDIS changes. The break lent itself to giving more time to the works in progress in the Studio.
Our little airbnb Leila at Malmsbury has kept us busy in January, providing both needed respite and oportunity to plan for changes there and so today, writing to you from here in the YSh Studio, I'm pleased to sumaries 2025's January has had a warm, growing, identity carving, love connections, and creative preparations flavour to it. I'm hoping in return your start to 2025 has had some good oporunity for reflection on how far you have come with good moments of setting your course for a good year ahead, or more simply some rest amongst it all.
Before long I'll be back here with the next Blog and until then, travel well, if you need new art work to inspire your living email me or Instagram Direct Message.
Warmth to you,
